After the Battle of the Somme, we were to find out that Christmas 2017 gaming wasn’t yet over. As another surprise, Josh had organised a second game.
Set out on a separate table was that looked like a bootleggers town. Immediately we figured we would be playing a game of Chicago Way and we weren’t wrong. What we didn’t expect though was it was Chicago Way with a twist…….Thundering Typhoons….It’s Tin Tin !!
Josh had written an adaptation to the rules for Tin Tin. Our task was to find Snowy in the town and lead him off our table edge to safety. Jamie was playing as Tin Tin, Mel was playing as Captain Haddock and Lee played as Professor Calculus. Richard was playing as the dastardly Bobby Smiles and Regan was playing as the henchmen. Wandering around the town were a variety of civilians that looked suspiciously like Scooby Doo and the gang !?!?
The game was played just as Chicago Way except for the special rules and actions each character could do. These had been created especially with each character in mind. Each special rule was named after a specific Tin Tin quote.
After much searching of buildings by both sides, Regan tracked down Snowy hiding in the attic of one of the buildings. Darnations, the enemy have him….he’ll never get out alive !! Not to be beaten and in anguish over his precious Snowy, Tin Tin was hot on his heels…….
Meanwhile Lee was facing off against one of the henchmen across the town and Mel was racing to get to the house while challenging another henchman. The race to rescue Snowy was on. Lee managed to kill off the henchman while Mel came face to face with the evil Bobby Smiles. Lee was quickly chasing to help however in a drunken stupor, Captain Haddock made an epic move, taking down Bobby Smiles….we’re still not sure how it happened.
The question was could Tin Tin fight off the nasty goon and rescue his best friend. Our hero would not go down without a fight….and what a fight it was. In one of those notorious Hollywood moments, both hero and villain fight to the death, each killing the other.
With Bobby Smiles and his goons wiped out, Snowy was free to run away from danger and escape off the table. A bitter sweet victory for our heroes, no glory in the fact that our hero had fought his last……….well, until the next game that is 🙂
I have to say, this game was amazing. It was such a fun game, getting into character and being part of one of those epic Tin Tin adventures. The rules adaptation Josh had done was brilliant, I would highly recommend that he show them to Great Escape Games. The figures used were awesome, the Scooby Doo figures were well painted by Rachel.
Thanks again to the Downing clan for a fantastic Christmas gaming session. It was certainly one we’ll remember for a long time. As we have already said, Christmas 2018 is already in the planning.
