Holiday 2016 Day 12

July 23, 2016 by Lee

After a well earned lay in this morning, the bike ride yesterday although being great, knackered us all out (as well as us all getting sun burnt).

The taxi was due at 12pm so we had a couple of hours to make sure we had packed everything and have a last minute look around the local shops.

The taxi arrived bang on cue and took a very nice leisurely drive to Washington DC. What struck us driving through was people living in tents under one of the many bridges. So I guess some things don’t change no matter where you live.

We arrived at the hotel and we were all blown away by the sheer vastness of the complex, but when we went in to the lobby we couldn’t believe what we were seeing.

We waited a while to get our room key and then ventured down to sit by the pool. The hotel is huge and we could do with segways to travel around the hotel.

Sat here in the Looby typing this, looking around at the building and interior and plaques, we seems to be following the footsteps of some very big names. Some of these include President’s Roosevelt, Truman, Clinton and Reagan, the Beatles, Frank Sinatra just to name a few.

Tomorrow we start our exploration of Washington DC.

Ok so it looks huge and top notch…. the hotel. Looks like it should make a great base for the last bit and exploring DC.
